File

Usually, a region of a disk drive used to store a single collection of information. For example, a file might consist of all the disk space used to store a particular word-processing document.

In addition to the data they contain, files have names, sizes, and attributes. This additional information is kept in Folders.

Files are often classified as Data Files, and Executable Files, depending on the type of information they contain.
